In the UK, there are more mobile phone handsets than there are people, and it's hardly surprising -- nary a day goes by without a new phone release. The latest to join the fray is the O2 XDA IQ.
Based on the Tornado handset from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC, the IQ is surprisingly compact given its impressive list of features. It weighs just 110g, which is less than a Motorola Razr V3x, but somehow they've managed to include Wi-Fi and a battery that can provide a claimed 4 hours of talk time.

The W580i is a slider phone and also a portable music device. The W580i is also another model of the Walkman series from Sony Ericsson. This 2.5G, Quad Band EDGE device (850/900/1800/1900) was announced in March, 2007 and released in July, 2007. Also known as a Walkman phone, this phone has the dimensions of 99 x 47 x 14 mm and weighs at 94g. The W580i comes equipped with 256K colors, 240 x 320 pixels, 2 inches TFT display.

Nokia 5700

MIT researchers are relying on viruses to build futuristic low cost batteries that will power cars, cellphones and other electronic devices.
These new ‘viral’ batteries will match the most advanced versions being considered to power plug-in hybrid cars, besides powering electronic devices, said Angela Belcher, the MIT materials scientist who led the research team.
The new batteries could be synthesised at and below room temperature and require no harmful organic solvents, and the materials are non-toxic.

Alltel has just released HTC PPC6800 Windows Mobile Phone in the United States. It is one very solid phone which has slide-out QWERTY keyboard, WiFi and can work unde CDMA EVDO networks. As it looks like from the photo thae phone is supposed to be powered by Windows Mobile 6 although its distributor Alltel claims only Windows Mobile 5.0 compatibility.
